Our Burnaby area client is a leader in the support and provision of healthcare services to the British Columbia public.

The client is seeking two (2) Senior Project Managers on a contract basis to support the Infrastructure Program.

 

Project Description:

The Infrastructure Program is responsible for the implementation of a number of complex projects (multiple vendors, clinical, operations, technical, and executive stakeholders).  Projects include a range of changes to Network Switches, Load Balancers, Backup, SAN, Firewall, Remote Access, Voice Services and UPS infrastructure. This requirement is for a Senior Project Manager with relevant knowledge to deliver enterprise infrastructure refresh/implementation projects as well as other foundational Information Technology systems including Cisco telephony and power and cooling.

 

Anticipated services include:

Reporting to the Program Manager – Technology Alignment, the Senior Project Manager is a key member of the Technology Alignment Infrastructure Program Team.  The project manager’s role is to lead and facilitate the implementation of infrastructure projects, ensuring delivery is on time, on budget and meeting required quality and service levels.

Successful candidates will have deep IT skills, proven professional experience in similar roles, and a strong desire to deliver highest-quality results in a demanding setting.

Accountabilities:

  • Overall planning, coordination and delivery of IT scope in multiple complex, high priority, implementation projects. Ensures on-time, on-budget delivery without compromising high quality deliverables.
  • Ownership of assigned IT projects and initiatives, bringing them to a successful closure.
  • Provide periodic reporting on project status, activities and tasks, risk, interdependencies and issues for presentation to senior executives, major business stakeholders, and PMO.
  • Accountable for delivery of all in-scope project activities.
  • Preparation and presentation of decision-making material for governance.
  • Accountable for project plan, scope, budget, risk, issue and resource management.
  • Be involved in planning and design, delivering business cases for infrastructure implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with technical, facility operations, and architecture teams.
  • Deliver quality documentation allowing for smooth execution of work, ensuring close observance of Technology Alignment and PMO policies and processes.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Write business cases and project charters.
  • Oversee procurement and financial tracking.
  • Manage the organizational change associated with the projects.
  • Develop and facilitate project governance process to support delivery.
  • Prepare materials and facilitate discussions and decisions at Governance Committee meetings.
  • Prioritize critical project milestones and work amongst competing demands and priorities.
  • Develop project strategy and approach for stakeholder review and decisions.
  • Liaise with vendor and manage vendor resources, where required, to support project delivery.
  • Lead and performance manage project resources.
  • Ensure projects align with PMO standards and governance guidelines.
  • Facilitates client engagement, supporting appropriate planning and communications.
  • Manage procurement to meet project plans.
  • Issue management, escalation, and tracking.
  • Report and manage variances to project charters, budget and timelines.
  • Inform Program Management Team of project delivery risk and mitigation strategies.

 

In addition to the requirements noted below, the successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Minimum 7 years working as a senior infrastructure project manager within an enterprise delivery organization.
  • Experience working in highly structured PMO environments desired.
  • Project Managers will be required to develop business cases and project charters.  Successful candidates must have strong business writing skills.
  • Must be a relationship and team builder.
  • Must have demonstrated experience leading and delivering enterprise level projects (7 years).
  • Experience working in Health Authority environments desired.
  • Demonstrated skills in tact and diplomacy for handling sensitive and challenging situations.
  • Must possess advanced communication skills and be capable of translating complex technical solutions into business focused language.
  • Excellent communication with Technical Leaders.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage stakeholder relationships such as Senior Management Team and Executives.
  • Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • PMP/Prince2 certification (ITIL accepted).
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Experience working with Facility resources to advance necessary renovation work required for IT infrastructure implementation is desired.

Must Haves
  • Strong client focused, team oriented communication skills with emphasis on building lasting, trusted partnerships through written and verbal communications with clients of Technology Alignment.
  • Proven experience in writing business cases and project charters – short-listed candidates will be required to submit written examples.
  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a degree in Project Management, Health Administration, Business Administration, Information Management or a related discipline.
  • Past project management experience within Clinical Organizations is an asset.
  • Experience facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups.
  • Experienced in thoroughly integrating established change management and process improvement principles into own project management style.
  • Experience coordinating and supporting changes and upgrades to LIVE mission critical systems.
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office toolsets (Word, Excel, Visio, Project).
  • Knowledge of PM tools such as Microsoft Project.
  • Proven analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
