Our Surrey area client is a leader in the support and provision of healthcare services to the British Columbia public.

The client is seeking a Communication & Engagement Consultant on a contract basis to support Advance Program & Clinical Informatics & Digital Health.

 

Project Description:

The program focuses on re-imagining the clinical workflows for greater efficiencies and coordination across providers, enabled by the new MEDITECH® Expanse platform. This transformation will increase automation and provide easier access to data to gain insights for improved patient care and in support on continuous quality improvements (CQI).

The project requires ongoing, detailed tactical and strategic communications support across a broad range of stakeholders from technical teams to health care providers to senior leadership. The communications and engagement consultant will work directly with the project leadership team with strategic connections into the Communications and Public Affairs department. Oversight of key program communication tools is important to success of the communications effort. These include:

  • Advance Communications Plan – maintain and execute the structured plan that outlines stakeholder-specific messaging, timing, and delivery channels to ensure alignment across clinical and technical teams
  • Advance Portal, Newsletters – used for internal updates, outage notifications, and banner alerts to reach broad staff audiences quickly.
  • Town Halls, various meeting forums and on the group Go-Lives supports inclusive power point decks and meeting preparations.
  • Communication Templates and Pre-approved Messaging – standardized formats for rapid deployment of updates, especially during system changes or outages, as well as a repository of previous stories and quotes to inform future communications and materials.

 

Anticipated services include:

The Advance Program is seeking a 6 month engagement (with possible extensions) for a Communication and Engagement consultant who will support Communications, Organizational Change Management (OCM) team within the Advance Program Management Office. This role is critical to execute the communication and engagement strategy for this complex clinical information system (CIS) implementation. The consultant will collaborate closely with Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Advance Program leadership and the Engagement, Readiness and Activation Leads and align with the Provider and Clinician Engagement Lead to ensure all activities support program awareness, commitment, and adoption.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Communication & Engagement Activities:
    • Execute targeted communication and engagement initiatives aligned with the OCM strategy.
    • Use stakeholder, impact, and readiness assessments to inform content and engagement design.
    • Select optimal communications tools and channels based on channel assessments to maximize reach and impact.
    • Create visually compelling content that energizes and informs.
  • Monitor & Optimize:
    • Track effectiveness of communication efforts and adjust tactics as needed to meet program goals.
  • Collaborate Across Teams:
    • Work closely with program leads to ensure communication plans evolve with program needs.
    • Maintain alignment with Corporate Communications and related policies (brand, digital communications, media relations, etc.)
  • Manage Print & Vendor Coordination:
    • Oversee print vendor relationships and manage materials for site readiness and training.
  • Support Ad Hoc Needs:
    • Respond to emerging communication and engagement content requests.
    • Contribute to regional and site-level communication plans and materials.

Must Haves
  • Strong written and oral communication in a business environment.
  • Ability to translate complex clinical and technology concepts into meaningful communication mediums, tailored and appropriate for audience, channel etc. for Clinical information system/Hospital Information system transformation
  • Worked as a part of organizational change management team on large, complex CIS/HIS implementation projects.
  • Mentoring and coaching skills to guide and motivate team members.
  • Must be relationship focused and a strong team builder
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Creative with strong visual communication experience e.g. Executive level presentations that tell a story with crisp graphics and concise information
  • Self-motivated, problem-solver and critical thinker
  • Microsoft suite, Adobe Illustrator, other graphic design tools
