Our Vancouver area client is the province’s regulator for the financial services sector to help protect British Columbians during some of the most important financial decisions of their lives.

The client is seeking a Senior Project Manager on a contract basis to support a transformation project involving a case management application implementation.

 

Project Description:

The Senior Project Manager will support a technology transformation project involving a case management application implementation. The Senior Project Manager will ensure the work is completed on time, within budget and in scope. The successful Resource will be required to work full-time for the term of the Contract in a hybrid format. The Resource may be assigned to other projects based on relative prioritization or resourcing requirements.

 

Anticipated services include:

  • Proactively leads the delivery of major projects that involves overseeing sub-projects or multiple delivery components (e.g., governance, operations, technology implementation, change management) including project planning, execution, timing, scope management, functionality, quality and cost, in accordance with project management standards and the PMO Framework.
  • Develops and determines project goals, objectives, and outcomes to align with the direction of the organization.
  • Manages project budgets and financial resources, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Reviews and approves project evaluation and post-implementation reviews, including implementation of any required business changes. Makes recommendations and improvement plans based on comprehensive knowledge and expertise.
  • Participates and contributes to project portfolio management activities, including project prioritization, resource allocation, and portfolio optimization to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Interprets policies and practices related to project management, and provide expert advice and guidance to peers, supervisors, and senior staff on project-related matters.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of operational plans and reporting for a program area to support reliable program accountability, organizational core values and mandate.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Contributes to initiatives related to project management processes and methodologies, manages resistance to change and facilitates adoption of new approaches. Contributes to the development of operational policies and procedures, performance standards and service levels with the goal of continuous improvement.
  • Develops and maintains constructive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, establish clear communication channels with stakeholders, and address concerns and manage expectations.
  • Monitor or manage vendor performance, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.   May be required to oversee Quality Assurance activities in operations and other ongoing or new projects or initiatives.

Must Haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business, or equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and training.
  • Project Management Certification from an industry recognized accreditation body.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years experience as a Project Manager leading complex projects with a budget of at least $1 million involving multiple delivery components, multiple workstreams and business stakeholders.
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience as Project Manager leading technology implementation projects.
  • Ability to managing complex relationships where different parties have a piece of the critical path and different levels of investment in the timelines and outcomes. This can include internal and internal stakeholders and third-party vendors.
  • Experience writing business cases or briefing materials, develops RFPs and estimates to support decision-making.
  • Ability leading multi-disciplinary teams in business transformation initiatives and business process design activities to align business systems with new business processes and systems.
  • Experience with Agile-Waterfall Hybrid methodologies and applying them to project management practices.
  • Preference may be given to candidates located in the Metro Vancouver or adjacent regions
