Job Details | Our Burnaby area client is a leader in the support and provision of healthcare services to the British Columbia public. The client is seeking a Specialist Network Engineer/Anayst on a contract basis to support an important IT infrastructure implementation within a local hospital. Project Description: Implement network infrastructure for a new state of the art hospital in Vancouver and Cisco Network Software Defined Access (SDA) fabric architecture has been chosen for implementation. During Phase 1 of the project, Project network team has built a POC Lab with Cisco SDA/ISE to validate the Cisco SDA Fabric Network architecture to validate the proposed design blueprint for the hospital, and this engagement is for Phase 2 of the project with possible extension for Phase 3 support. Project objectives are to design and implement resilient Cisco SDA Fabric network architecture for the new hospital and provide guidance and support to CTIS Network project team for successful delivery of fully functional network per CTIS project delivery requirements. Our client would like to engage a Cisco Certified expert to provide design support for Cisco SDA fabric architecture and implementation support to the project network team to successfully deliver the Cisco SDA fabric network for the new hospital as part of project Phase 2 deliverables. The Supplier resources will be working closely with the project Network team to implement the network for the new Hospital. Project scope includes, but not limited to: - Reviewing and validating the POC Lab design blueprint to expand the design to support the new hospital implementation.
- Validating the proposed Cisco SDA fabric network design, including Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine), Cisco Catalyst Center, Nexus Server Farm, Super Core, Wireless and Voice readiness for Managed services integration, Internet Perimeter and WAN connectivity.
- Cisco best practices are followed and alignment with the proposed design for implementation.
- Guiding and supporting the network team with network installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and optimizing network performance.
- Improve operational efficiency via automation and centralized management using Cisco DNA Center.
- Support Project network technical team with install and onboarding of Cisco network equipments per SDA Fabric network design for two (2) Main Equipment Rooms (MER) and fifty-one (51) Edge Telecommunication rooms with a total of up to 550 network edge switches.
- Support Project network technical team with activating the Hospital network from partial network ready through to full network ready for clinical equipment commissioning and testing.
- Support project network technical team with on-boarding end-user devices during commissioning period for go-live preparation.
- Enhance security through identity-based access and micro-segmentation using Cisco ISE.
Current estimated timeline (Phase 2 – Service Commencement Readiness): - Network design validation and approval: July to August 2025
- Network core installation (2 x MERs) and activation: August to October 2025
- Basic network live – partial facility (podium only, Core + 19 TRs): October to November 2025
- Basic network live – full facility (podium and tower, Core + 51 TRs): November 2025 to March 2026

Anticipated services include: - Review and validate the network SDA Fabric design based on the POC Lab design blueprint built for the new Hospital.
- Validate network requirements against proposed SDA Fabric solution design and approving the design.
- Review and update Cisco SDA Fabric and ISE solution design for the new Hospital.
- Production network installation planning and lead the network implementation for SD-Access and ISE, including Super Core, Catalyst Center, Nexus Server Farm, Managed services integration with Voice and Wi-fi, Internet Perimeter and WAN services.
- Develop test plan for SDA-Access and ISE implementation.
- SD-Access/ISE Testing and implementation support for Clinical, FMO and BMS Systems.
- Review and Validate SD-Access fabric and underlay configuration: Network settings (DNS, DHCP, SNMP), IP Pools, Fabric Domains, Virtual Networks, Device Discovery, Underlay LAN automation, setup Border nodes, up to five hundred fifty (550) edge nodes, fusion routers and boarder nodes.
- Testing and implementation support for various clinical and non-clinical system modalities such as X-ray, Patient Physiological Monitors (PPM), Vital Sign Monitors, ECG, Wayfinding, Barcode scanners, CT scanner, Digital Patient Status Boards, Teletracking/EVS, laptops, workstations, Printers, and VoIP phones.

Consultants to be Cisco Certified, expert skilled in Cisco SD-Access and Cisco-ISE, and must have minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in complex enterprise environment, preferably in a healthcare facility. On-site presence will be required for selected phases of work, in particular during installation and commissioning phases. Service Provider to describe proposed on-site presence within their response. In addition to the requirements noted below, the successful candidate will possess the following: - Demonstrated experience of successfully implementing new network infrastructure using Cisco SDA Fabric network with Cisco ISE in a complex enterprise environment, preferably in a healthcare facility
